Click below to read the recent City Beat article highlighting the deceptive tactics of the NAACP and COASTs "streetcar petition." As we already know, they point out that the petition is actually an Anti-Passenger Rail Charter Amendment that would likely block not only the Streetcar project, but also plans for regional and national passenger rail projects from ever making it to Cincinnati. As pointed out before, this would be hugely detrimental to the future success of Cincinnati.

this is just awful; the NAACp and COAST that is.
what is wrong with cincinnati?!
I ask myself that question alot. The best answer I can come up with is simple ignorance. Not to offend anyone but alot of people here are very sheltered to the rest of the country/world. They just go with whatever the local news channels and 700 WLW tells them to do.
It is really going to take a lot of work to educate people about the real issues behind this project in order to get everyone on board. They think that they are just avoiding more taxes by supporting this petition, but in reality they are killing Cincinnati's chances of being a competitive 21st century city.
I think the best thing we can do to help the situation is really talk to as many people as possible about the facts and get the word out there about the proven benefits of rail transit in the city and the harm that this petition drive would do.
This fall we are going to have to fight a very hard battle to keep Cincinnati on track.
Check out Cincinnatians for Progress for more information on what we can do to help. I have a link to it in my blog links.
